No parent is perfect. Every mom or dad will screw up at some point in the 18 years it takes for an infant to become an adult, and best believe it won't be without consequences for their kid. There is endless writing and posting about being a parent to a child; I'm less interested in that era of the parent-child relationship. What's more interesting to me is parents relationships with their adult kids, particularly when the lines are blurred and parents treat their adult children like they're still little kids. It's a fascinating phenomenon that's been exacerbated by technology. Parents can track their adult kid's locations to see where they are and pontificate upon what they're doing there. They can parent and control them from hundreds of miles away

Texting is a huge tool if you're a parent who's parenting their adult children. It's a way to talk to someone, even if they really don't want to talk to you. So many parents say things over text that they would never say in real life, and these parenting texts demonstrate this perfectly.

    Lots of context needed I was working as a dog sitter/house cleaner for somone who worked long hours and was rarely home. I was just 16 at the time and was happy to be getting some money even though it was only about $20-$30 for 6am-8pm every day.

    One day my moms phone was having issues, my boss texted her saying I arrived and they went to work but she never received it. She called me but couldn't hear me so she assumed I was doing it on purpose and sent me those texts (see immage attached)

    put my bags in the back of my car. How generous. I knew there was no fighting with her and I called my friends to see if anyone was looking for a roommate.     replied to you Whatever act like your sh doesn't stink, who gives a sh anymore, btw... I'm not perfect and I don't believe I am or that I'm better than anyone. I DO however know there are rules to what we should and shouldn't do and as your parent, I am supposed to teach you and help you practice following those rules. I have also said you are allowed to wear pants I, but they cannot be too loose or too tight and the shorts cannot be way above your knees. Dress codes are enforced at public place

    missed out on that much since we live together. They also "didn't know" it was her birthday so when we celebrated my dad and I'd birthday she felt left out. This has been ongoing and it's not that I don't appreciate the gesture of inviting me, it's the fact that they purposefully don't include her, keep in mind she hasn't given them a reason to do so.
